It was a week three Weyburn teens won't soon forget as they represented Weyburn and the province on the national stage.

Landon Field, Lorynn Labbie and Taylor Cameron earned their way to the National Junior Achievement Summit in Calgary for their business, King Street Fudge. They spent five days in the big city competing against other companies from across Canada and also got to network and hear keynote speakers.

"It was really cool to meet people from not only in Canda but all around the world," said co-President Lorynn Labbie. "Just to see the different ideas that everyone had and how innovative some of the companies are, it was really an honour to be named top three out of those companies."

Through two rounds of judging at the trade show, the Weyburn business was narrowed from the top 12 to the top six, and then into the top three. They were attempting to join an exclusive list of WCS companies that had won national awards.

"The first round was the top 12 and it went really well. Once we made into the top six I was more relaxed, but then when we were in the top three I was super nervous again," Taylor Cameron explained. "We were presenting in front of everybody."

While they ultimately didn't win first place and a trip to the International Summit, the trio did earn some recognition for their hard work.

"Overall the week was really good. We met lots of people and during the Awards Gala, our company, King Street Fudge, actually won the Best Shareholder's Report in all of Canada," said co-President Landon Field. "We spent a lot of time on it and we had great company members. We had 23 members and everyone contributed."

The three agreed it was a phenomenal trip and an amazing experience. They made new friends and memories that will last a while. They were putting Weyburn on the map, "one piece of fudge at a time" they said in a social media post.

While Field, Labbie and Cameron will attend their first year of University in the fall, they believe everything they experienced and learned this past week will help them in the long run. They got to hear from keynote speakers in the industry, like the founder of SkipTheDishes.

"Just to hear from all the speakers about how hard they worked and what they did to find success. I found it really inspiring and that we can be successful like them," Labbie said.

"I just want to a huge thank you to everyone in the community that sent us support during the week," noted Cameron. "It was really cool to get those positive vibes sent to us while we were competing. It really helped us get as far as we did."
