Weyburn's Mayor Marcel Roy says he is looking forward to a couple of events this year for municipal government. The first will be the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) Convention in early April, and the other the Federation of Canadian Municipalities annual conference and trade show in June.

"FCM is actually going to be having their convention in Regina, which is kind of one of the first for I think many years if not a first, so that will be a Canada-wide one," he noted. "People will be coming into Regina, so we'll be attending that this year."

Roy said these are the two main conventions Council attends yearly to ensure community advancement.

"There's changes within the province. The government is structuring things and hopefully we'll be in line for all the grants and everything that is that helps to make the city run properly."

The FCM Convention will be held in early June.
