A new notification system is now available in the City of Weyburn. Monday morning they announced the launch of Voyent Alert, which will replace the current system.

"A lot of residents might remember we have an Everbridge program, that’s probably where they’re receiving road closures, or recycling and garbage information,” explained Paige Tenbult. She is the communications coordinator with the City of Weyburn. “Voyent Alert is now replacing that system. Current subscribers (to Everbridge) can expect a notification to come to their phone this afternoon that will help them detail out the transition over and get them all set up in the new system.”

Those who want to get ahead of the notification from Everbridge about the new system can go to the City of Weyburn website to find out how to get registered with the Voyent Alert system.

The new system comes with a lot of flexibility in customizing a profile, Tenbult explained.

“With Voyent Alert, you can get text messages, you can get phone calls, you can get emails, but what’s so cool about this new system is it has a mobile app, so you can go on to the App Store or Google Play and download the app and have that as a way that you receive notifications too,” Tenbult elaborated.

In addition to alerts such as road closures, changes to the garbage pick-up schedule or emergency notifications from the city, residents will now also be able to sign up for day-to-day communications, such as reminders about events happening in the city. One such thing Tenbult highlighted about the type of notifications that could be pushed out with the new system is the Community Survey, which the city launched today.
