A report about an unsafe load on a trailer resulted in one man facing a number of charges last week.

It all started when a concerned citizen called the Weyburn Police Service about an unsafe load on a trailer. The report stated a truck was hauling a flat-deck trailer with a car on the back of it, and the car looked as though it was about to fall off.

Officers were able to locate the truck, which had actually pulled over to address the situation. That was when things escalated, though, according to Deputy Police Chief Brent VanDeSype.

“One of the individuals involved was known to have an outstanding warrant for their arrest, and it escalated a little bit from there,” VanDeSype explained. “The individual resisted arrest, and was ultimately arrested.”

As a result of the incident, the man is now facing charges of resisting arrest, failing to comply with a probation order, and possessing illegal tobacco. VanDeSype clarified illegal tobacco is any tobacco that hasn’t been stamped to indicate it has been taxed in Canada.
