With the Weyburn Agricultural Society having to throw together this year's Weyburn Fair Days event with far less time to prepare as they did in previous years they are in need of all the support that they can get from the community.

This is why Prairie Sky Co-op decided to step up and help provide some of the water that they need for their volunteers and staff this weekend.

"We definitely want to make sure that all of the volunteers and workers stay hydrated and hopefully the weather will still be beautiful for the event," shared Danielle Knoll, Member Relations Manager for the Weyburn Prairie Sky Co-op.

This year's Fair Days marks the 112th annual event with the Ag Society having to cancel the Fair completely last year due to the pandemic and provincial restrictions that didn't allow it.

That is why when the Ag Society board members heard that the restrictions would be lifted in time to hold the event again this year they came together and created a solid plan as quickly as they could to be able to still entertain the community.

"At Prairie Sky Co-op we definitely believe in local and helping all of the community programs around here and we knew that the Ag Society was going to be one of those that are needing a boost this year," added Knoll. "After COVID and them not being able to run any fundraisers at all last year we wanted to help them in any way that we could."

She also said that she encourages everyone in the community to visit the Weyburn Fair Days and to help out the Ag Society as much as possible. In total Prairie Sky Co-op provided 2,016 water bottles for the Fair workers.

This year the Weyburn Ag Society is trying to raise as much money as they can with their annual Fair Days event to be able to replace the roof on the Curling Rink and to take care of some other major repairs to their buildings that are long overdue.

They estimate that they will need to raise close to $80,000 for the completion of this project and are hoping to see the community come out to support them in any way possible.

The 112th Weyburn Fair Days kicks off this Thursday at 5:00 p.m. and will run until the evening of Sunday, July 18.
