Weyburn area residents are being reminded to take precautions if they're out and about at dawn and dusk.

An inspection of mosquito monitoring traps in Estevan and Weyburn has revealed the presence of the first generation of culex tarsalis, the insects responsible for the transmission of the West Nile Virus.

While the risk of contracting the virus is still low at this time, residents are being advised to start taking the necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
