It was a good weekend for the 15U AA Weyburn Beavers. They were in Saskatoon for provincials and came away with gold.

The Beavers opened play Friday with a 12-4 win over the Saskatoon Braves. This was followed up by an 8-7 win in 10 innings over the Unity Cardinals Saturday.

The only setback for the Beavers on the weekend came in their final round-robin game when the East Central Dodgers got past them 14-9.

Sunday, the team would have to play three games in short order, starting with a tiebreaker for second place in their pool against the Dodgers. The Beavers would end up winning the game 10-1, advancing to the semi-finals.

In the semi-final matchup with the Saskatoon A’s, the bats came alive for the Beavers as they picked up a 13-2 win in five innings. This meant the Beavers were now up against the Meadow Lake Sox in the finals, and there, the Beavers would come out swinging again.

An 11-4 victory in the championship game gave the 15U AA Beavers their second consecutive provincial title and qualified the team for the Western Canada Championships, which are slated to be held in Estevan next month.
