Some parents will need to find alternative arrangements for their school-aged children on Thursday as the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation (STF) has announced further job action.

The STF announced rotating full-day strikes to take place on Thursday, February 1 for all Prairie South School Division schools, all Holy Trinity Catholic Division schools, all Horizon School Division schools, all Prince Albert Catholic School Division schools, all Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division schools, all Light of Christ Catholic School Division schools, all Living Sky School Division schools and, Sakewew High School in North Battleford.

Additionally, Conseil des écoles fransaskoises schools that fall within the above geographic boundaries, and Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre teachers who work at a school or regional campus within the above geographic boundaries will take part in the full-day strike.

“There are many factors at play when we are selecting our next course of action, and we appreciate how this situation impacts people," said Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation President Samantha Becotte.

"Teachers are strong in our resolve, and support throughout our communities and across Canada has been so important. I thank everyone who has joined the cause for publicly funded schools. Our voices are strongest together.”

The province and the STF - which represents Saskatchwan's 13,500 teachers - remain far apart on many key issues including class size and complexity.
