The power grid and infrastructure held up fairly well in the Weyburn area over the past week, as increased demand came about thanks to a cold snap. While there were reported outages in places like Regina, Saskatoon, Yorkton, Canora, and Alida, there were no widespread or sustained outages in the Weyburn area.

A spokesperson with SaskPower confirmed for Discover Weyburn there were just two outages reported in the area during the cold snap. One happened on Friday in Yellow Grass, affecting approximately 12 customers. The second outage happened south of Bengough and affected roughly 21 customers. In both of the incidents, the power was restored around two hours later.

In both of the outages in the Weyburn area, along with most of the outages over the past week, the weather is said to have played a factor.
