With an open spot on the schoolboard at the Southeast Cornerstone Public School Division, an election will soon be held to determine who will fill the position.

"Once Melanie [Sorensen] resigned, the board had six months to pick an election date and they didn't really want to do that over the summer because you know, people are out and about, and doing other things, so they chose September 28th of the Election Day," shared Shelley Toth, Chief Financial Officer with Southeast Cornerstone.

She said the Notice of Call for Nominations closed last week, and they now have three official candidates.

Those are Dana Pretzer, Megan Schick, and Cameron Weber.

Toth noted the only requirement to run for the school board is to be nominated by 10 people residing in Weyburn.
