It is one of the biggest nights of the holiday season in Weyburn. The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce is getting ready for its 29th annual Parade of Lights through the downtown core of the city.

The parade is held every year on the first Thursday of December, and it won’t be any different this year. The parade will wind its way through the streets on December 7th, starting at 7:00 p.m.

Entrants are still being accepted for the parade. The Chamber is encouraging those who want to register for the parade to dress up their entry, with lights being the most popular way to decorate.

While the focus of the night will be the parade itself, over the years the downtown core has become more and more vibrant each year, with many businesses staying open a little later, and many others setting up stands to pass out hot chocolate and goodies.

“The collaboration that our business community in downtown Weyburn provides us is just great,” said Monica Osborn She is the executive director of the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce. “They come together. They know that it’s a great event and it brings out the residents of our community.”

The grand finale of the parade, as always, will be Santa Claus, as he makes a trip from the North Pole to the Opportunity City to help kick off the holiday season.
