It wasn’t the colour of the medal they were going into the game looking for. But there would be little disappointment in the results as Team Saskatchewan came away from the girls and boys basketball tournaments at the Western Canada Summer Games in Swift Current with silver medals. Both teams wrapped up their tournaments Tuesday.

In the boys gold medal game against Alberta, Saskatchewan, which included Weyburn’s Zack Olson, came out of the first quarter with a slight lead. Alberta would claw back, however, and ultimately took the game 90-70.

On the girls' side, Alberta came out strong and didn’t look back, running away with an 80-48 final.

For many fans from Weyburn, the attention at the Western Canada Summer Games now turns to the baseball diamond. Rylan Erb will be taking the field with Team Saskatchewan as they open their tournament Wednesday morning against Alberta.
