Union officials meet this morning to decide what action they'll take after contract talks involving 27-hundred Saskatchewan health care workers broke off.

A conciliator failed to get both sides together saying they are too far apart to reach a deal.

Chris Driol, of the Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan, says the union has no choice but to engage in job action.

Hospitals across Saskatchewan have been closing beds and cancelling surgeries in preparation for a possible strike by paramedics, pharmacists and others.

The strike could affet 155 workers here in the Sun Country Health Region.
