The Saskatchewan Teachers Federation has announced there will be a one-day strike affecting southeast Saskatchewan on Monday.

In a release issued Friday morning, the STF advised the teachers in the Holy Family Teachers’ Association, the South East Cornerstone Teachers’ Association, the Prairie South Teachers’ Association, the South Central and Southeast campuses of the Saskatchewan Distance Learning Corporation, and the Regina Public Teachers’ and Regina Catholic Teachers’ Associations will be off the job.

The teachers from the associations that are going on strike will be rallying outside the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina on Monday, coinciding with the first day of the spring session of the Legislature.

“Government has ignored calls, emails, meeting requests and office visits from teachers, parents and concerned citizens,” said Samantha Becotte, the president of the STF. “It will be awfully difficult for them to ignore us on Monday as they return for spring session."

The announcement comes one day after the STF announced they will be withdrawing all extracurricular supports throughout the province on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
