The Weyburn Lacrosse Association has been working hard to continue to offer high-quality coaching and training for local youth athletes throughout the uncertainties of the pandemic.

Despite facing many obstacles, hurdles, and even having to re-invent the way they taught their classes they stayed strong and didn't give up because they believe that children need the exercise and life lessons that sports can teach them so well.

Tonight they are hoping to be able to recruit some new people to their dedicated team to be able to keep up with the growing popularity of their club locally.

"It's a social event that will be taking place tonight at the All Sport Training Center at 7:30 PM," said Mick Samenook, Coaching Coordinator for Weyburn Lacrosse Association. "We'll be following COVID protocols and we can accommodate up to 30 people. So if you want to attend you should contact Matt Dalton at president.weythrash@gmail.ca; or myself at coach.weythrash@gmail.ca, or you can call my phone at 306-861-2224, or contact any board member or coach."

He stated that volunteers and coaches don't need any experience and they are more than willing to train anyone that is interested in helping to grow the sport in our community.

"It’s kind of fun to be a part of the growth and development of these athletes to see the smiles and sense of accomplishment when they succeed," Samenook added. "They may participate just to enjoy quality time with their friends or benefit more from fitness and health. Others will get a lot from running around by reducing stress. Some are participating now with the hopes of making national teams or possibly university scholarships. We have athletes in our programs right now that have the potential to achieve these goals. A few years ago we were literally teaching these kids how to catch a ball."

The All Sport Training Center is located at 402, 19th Ave SE (Evanston Industrial Park) in Weyburn.

Anyone that would like to help out as a volunteer or coach but will not be able to attend tonight's meeting are welcome to reach out to Mick Samenook at 306-861-2224.
