The Weyburn Credit Union is planning a big event on Friday, June 16th to announce the Community Fund Grant recipients and celebrate the community.

It all kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with a barbeque, followed by a Karissa Hoffart concert.

"Everybody's welcome, whether you're a member or not," invited VP of Marketing, Tana Torkelson. "Karissa Hoffart will be doing the Women of Rock tribute at 7:00, then during her intermissions  we're going to do the community fund announcements, and we're going to be giving away over $70,000."

Karissa will continue performing after that, she noted, and then they'll cap off the night with an outdoor movie event ending at 11:30 p.m.

"We're actually having Ant Man and the Wasp," she said. "We are asking people if they want to come to bring their lawn chairs because it'll be a lot more comfortable."

Torkelson said they'll have picnic tables rented from the City as well, which will be especially helpful during the barbeque. Included for $5 per person or $20 per family will be a hot dog or hamburger, chips and a drink.

"And then there will be complementary snacks, and we're going to have popcorn and donuts and different things throughout the evening," she added.

The bouncy castles will be set up in the Knox Hall to allow for more room on the blocked off section of Coteau Avenue between Second Street and Third Street.

Torkelson said they got 29 applications for the Community Fund Grants this year.

"It's a great way to highlight the community organizations and then showcase some of the great work that they're doing in the community. Because there are a ton of organizations doing amazing work. "
