The Weyburn Humane Society held an information session on Sunday at the Microtel in Weyburn. Accompanied by two kittens, the Humane Society went over what exactly working as a volunteer with the Humane Society would involve.

Volunteering with the Humane Society is not all walking dogs and petting kittens. There is much more to be involved within the Humane Society.

"There are two different ways you can help us at the Shelter. You can go directly to the shelter for several things like grooming cats and walking dogs," said fundraising chair Elizabeth Livingstone. "But we also need help with our many fundraisers that we do throughout the year that we need volunteers for."

Some of the fundraising efforts include bake sales, garage sales, weddings and adoption events that take place at PetValu.

Livingstone adds that you can help out as much as you want, whether it's making phone calls or attending fundraising efforts. There is no quota for how much help is required.

You can apply by picking up a volunteer application at the Humane Society.
