In light of the COVID-19 pandemic's social distancing regimes, the Weyburn Police Service is asking the public to avoid stopping by the police station.

"If you don't physically need to come to the police station, we suggest not doing that. Just call, and we will determine whether you need to physically come down for a statement, or to bring documents or whatever, or just stopping in, we're trying to discourage that," said Acting Chief Rod Stafford.

Stafford said for those hoping to have a Criminal Record Check, they are encouraging people to use the online system through their web site, where criminal record checks are offered.

Yesterday the Regina Police Service and the Saskatoon Police Service locked their doors and are screening at the door to determine who they allow entry.

"We're not adopting that position yet," Stafford noted.

"We would just ask that, unless somebody needs to come down to the office, to call first and we will determine whether we need them to come down or not or whether we can deal with them and assist them over the telephone," he requested.
