As the weather starts to warm up, residents will be commencing spring cleaning, yard work and lots of outdoor activities. Unfortunately, not all of the activities in the warmer months are positive.

"Car diggings" and bicycle thefts are common issues during the summer months and preventative measures to secure your property will help to reduce these incidents.

Deputy Police Chief Brent VanDeSype with the Weyburn Police Service wanted to remind residents to lock their vehicles.

"Secure your bicycles as well, these are fairly common issues that are obviously significantly more during the summer. We'd just like to remind everybody that with warmer weather, there's going to be a lot more foot traffic at night and it's not always of the friendly kind."

VanDeSype added to take your keys out of your vehicle(s), and to either keep your valuables out of your vehicle, or at least out of sight.
