A strong weekend for the Midget AA Aaron Well Servicing Gold Wings, as they outscored their opposition 12-0 over the course of two games on the weekend. With the pair of wins, the Gold Wings improve to 5-0 on the season.

The Swift Current Broncos were in town for a pair of games against the Gold Wings, both matchups played in Midale.

Saturday night, the Gold Wings came out firing, winning 6-0. Marci Leblanc opened the scoring before the first period was five minutes old. Her goal was assisted by Kiera Pittman and Brynn Kuntz. From there, Dalis Prawdzik would make it 2-0. Haley Labbie assisted on the goal.

The Gol Wings would continue to add to the lead in the second. Taylor Rooney scored a power play goal, with Alyssa Ohrt and Leblanc recording the helpers. Leblanc and Pittman then teamed up for the fourth goal of the game, and Leblanc’s second, to make it 4-0 after 40 minutes.

The game was finished off with Prawdzik’s second of the night. The Gold Wings rounded out the scoring with a power-play goal by Kuntz. Jordan Meyers and Leblanc assisted.

Kara Zelyck stopped all 56 shots she faced to earn the shutout.

Sunday, the game against the Broncos started out a lot tighter, with neither team scoring in the first period. Four power-play goals for the Gold Wings over the final two periods, though, would prove to be key in their 6-0 win.

The scoring started in the dying seconds of the middle period, as Ohrt, assisted by Jordan Meyers, scored a power-play goal.

The third period started out as a goaltenders battle, with Swift Current looking for an equalizer. It would be the Gold Wings, though, who would score, expanding their lead. Haley Labbie found the back of the net with a power-play goal at the 10:57 mark of the third. She was assisted on the goal by Kuntz and Meyers. The floodgates then opened for the Gold Wings.

Meyers scored a goal of her own, assisted by Labbie. Leblanc, who had finished with four points the night before, scored a power-play goal assisted by Rooney. Karleigh MacKenzie then added to the lead, assisted by Kaycee Mullinger and Kiera Pittman. The scoring was finished off by Kendra Kotylak with Meyers and MacKenzie getting the helpers.

Goaltending was again key, with Taryn McKinney making 49 saves for the win.

The Gold Wings will be back in action on November 6th. They travel up to Regina to take on the Rebels.
