The Saskatchewan Roughriders won their 13th Labour Day Classic in 14 years. With a 31-23 victory, the Riders have now won three straight and pull into second place in the West Division, tied with the Edmonton Eskimos.

As for Winnipeg, the loss bumps them down to fourth place with a shot at redemption ahead next weekend in the annual Banjo Bowl. The Bombers are two points back of the Riders and Eskimos making Saturday's game that much more important.

Riders starting quarterback, Zach Collaros was 18-for-30, passing for 250 yards. He and Naaman Roosevelt connected seven times for 86 yards. Marcus Thigpen rushed 55 yards on five carries.

For the Blue Bombers, Matt Nichols went 14-for-26, passing for 166 yards.

“They’re a good football team and they’re going to go back, look at the film and try to take advantage of the things that we did,” predicted Rider head coach/GM Chris Jones.

The annual Labour Day rematch takes place next weekend. The Riders travel into hostile territory in a game referred to as the "Banjo Bowl" this Saturday in Winnipeg at 2 p.m.
