Thanks in large part to the nearly 10 millimeters of rain this week, the City of Weyburn has officially lifted the open air fire ban. The ban was lifted at 9:00 this morning and had been in place since August 15.

Fire Chief Simon Almond, who is currently in Ottawa at a Fire Chief's Conference, made the call which allows for backyard fires before Autumn turns to Winter.

The wet weather is expected to hang around for a while yet, with forecasts calling for the possibility of rain the rest of this week and weekend.
