A Weyburn man is facing charges of impaired driving causing death after a fatal collision on Sunday.

Moose Jaw RCMP responded to a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 39 around 2 p.m.

Police said a northbound truck and a southbound truck collided.

The lone driver of the northbound truck, a 62-year-old man, died at the scene.

The driver of the southbound truck, 34-year-old John Smolinski, and two passengers, a 42-year-old man and 29-year-old woman, were all transported to hospital.

Smolinski has been charged with:

  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death;
  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle over .08 causing death;
  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm;
  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle over .08 causing bodily harm.

Smolinski first court appearance was set for Monday morning in Moose Jaw Provincial Court.

His next appearance is scheduled for Tuesday morning in Moose Jaw.
