Nostalgia is back in style, and the organizers of the Weyburn Communithon are taking the event back to its original venue.

“We are going back old school this year, as many people have heard,” said Communithon Committee Member Sabrina Kraft. “We did some community consultations earlier in the year and there were many people who wanted the Communithon to return to its roots.”

The Communithon will be located at the Royal Canadian Legion on Friday, October 25th, 2019.

Kraft said they're happy to be back in the downtown core, noting the entertainment committee is already scouting the local talent to create a lineup of performers for the event.

“We'll be announcing tryouts pretty soon for if you want to be an entertainer at Communithon. So that's going to be exciting, we're going to be having some auditions coming up this year,” said Kraft.

She noted while Communithon may be returning to its roots in some ways, sometimes it just makes good sense to take advantage of newer technologies.

“We're going to have a brand new electronic total board that is going to be showcased throughout Communithon as we are trying to raise funds for our community agencies,” she said.

Since the dissolution of the Weyburn & District United Way last year, the Regina United Way will be overseeing the fundraiser as pertains to the 11 member agencies, Big Brothers Big Sisters Weyburn, Canadian Mental Health Association, Canadian Red Cross, Community Low Income Centre, CNIB Foundation, Envision Counselling & Support Centre, Inclusion Weyburn, Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan, Weyburn Care-A-Van, Weyburn Special Care Home and the Weyburn Youth Centre.
