The Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards weekend started on Friday in Prince Albert to celebrate the best of the province's country music scene from the past year.

Weyburn's Tenille Arts, whose career is going from strength to strength including television show appearances across North America, was in attendance and took home five awards; Songwriter of the Year, Album or EP of the Year, Single of the Year, Video of the Year and Female Artist of the Year.

Regina native Amy Nelson won her first ever SCMA Award on Saturday when she won Entertainer of the Year. Estevan-born Chris Henderson won Male Artist of the Year.

Discover Weyburn's Denis Conroy spoke to Arts before the awards ceremony. Arts said she will be hitting the road soon for a Canadian tour. She will then begin a U.S. radio tour.

"I'm constantly on the road and not really sure where home is at the moment," explained Arts. "But Saskatchewan's always home."

Residing in Nashville for the past two years, Arts was recently signed to Revivor Records. She released her album "Rebel Child" a few months ago.
