A new season for the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings is just around the corner, with pre-season games beginning on Monday following training camp this weekend.

In addition to his other new role as the Office and Public Relations Manager for the Weyburn Red Wings, Nick Nielsen will once again this season be the 'Voice of the Wings'. This means he'll be giving the play-by-plays from the Red Wings away games, and you can listen live only on BIG 106.7 FM. 

Nielsen also filled the play-by-play role in the 2020-21 season.

While this weekend is the Wings' training camp, the first regular season game will take place in Melville, where they'll take on the Millionaires on Friday, September 16th at 7:00 p.m. at the Horizon Credit Union Centre
 
Neilsen said he's looking forward to seeing the team turn a bit of a corner towards some new and better horizons this year.  

"Of course, last year the Red Wings had a lot of issues, and a lot of injuries and stuff like that," he commented. "It put them in last place at the end of the season, but their nucleus of guys on this team has really grown. We've got a lot of new additions that were really, really excited to see what it's going to be like. I think we're probably going to have one of the best six defensemen in the league on our team this year."
