The RentPro Completely Branded Weyburn Razorbacks took to the floor Friday night hoping to pick up their first home win of the season, riding the momentum from the franchise’s first victory over Moose Jaw the previous weekend. Things didn’t go as hoped, though, as the Regina Barracudas were able to benefit from some lucky bounces throughout the night as they went on to an 11-5 win over Weyburn.

The lucky bounces came in the form of shots off the crossbar that bounced away from the goal, instead of going bar-down. There were at least eight shots that beat Barracudas' netminder Cooper Linton that went off a post and away, and that would be a major factor in the final score.

After the Razorbacks controlled the play for the opening six minutes of the game, Regina would rattle off four goals in less than five minutes to take a commanding 4-0 lead in the game. Austin Enright had the first goal, with Ethan Williams then scoring the next three.

Weyburn would reply before the end of the period, though, as Blake Becker scored with 5:05 to play in the opening period to make it 4-1. Vann Dennis had the assist on the goal.

In the second period, Regina would again come out firing, as they put two more goals, both from Easton Tytlandsvik, on the board to go up 6-1. Then, Landon Redman would score for Weyburn with 4:45 to play in the frame. Mahekan Whitehorse Rider had the assist on the goal.

Regina would completely pull away in the third period as Tytslandvik scored early in the frame, with Avery Sewell and Colter Goodwill also tallying. Then, Weyburn would get a goal back late in the game.

Jake Dammann, on his 19th birthday, scored to make it 9-3. Any momentum, though, was cut out from underneath the Razorbacks as Caleb Singer-Scherle scored for Regina to make it 10-3. While Nick Huntley would score with 5:04 to play, and Jack Missal found the back of the net with 2:15 to go, Kaiden Lindsay’s goal between those two would put the game out of reach.

The Razorbacks are now on a bye week, with their next action coming on June 1st. They travel to Swift Current to take on the Wolverines.
