The fundraiser to help seven-year-old Isaiah Evans get a custom medical van has been happening all over the community, and the organizers are more than halfway to their $100,000 goal.

Shannon Seitz, Isaiah's Educational Assistant, and Caregiver, said they've got momentum now thanks to a lot of community involvement.

"We've got a lot of people reaching out to support our project, so things are up and running and we're looking at closing up our last little bit of this fundraiser," she shared.

"As of our current total, we have $61,0512 raised."

She said their first goal was to raise $50,000 by June, so they are well on track, already ahead of that halfway goal.

In fact, throughout the month of May, Leicester Family Restaurant held a 'Friends of Isaiah' initiative, where $10 from specific meals would go toward the fundraiser, and they even held a car show on Sunday, May 28th to help encourage the community to get on board.

"Leicester's brought in a lot, and a lot more people from the community learned what we were doing with the fundraising efforts," Seitz added. "So that has now wrapped up, although they are selling $5 gift cards till the end of the month. They have an inspirational section, so people can write messages to the family or Isaiah."

She added that many businesses chose to get lunches from that campaign.

"It's amazing how the community has come together so far for this project, and just the support that the family has received. Isaiah stole the show at the car show and kind of everywhere he walks, he lights up the room."

She said they still have more fundraisers planned in the fall if they are needed, and there are a few other organizations that have planned a few things over the summer.

"We have bottle drives going, we have some businesses that have done garage sales, so everyone seems to be coming together to get this project going, which is great."
