A unique-to-Weyburn event kicked off the Saskatchewan Oil & Gas Show - the Outlaw Buckers and Oil Kings Match Bronc Riding event was held Tuesday afternoon, showcasing world-class talent right here at the Weyburn Grandstand.
Organizer Robert Schmidt brought 30 of the top riders in the world to Weyburn against some of the best bucking horses from Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corporation, C5 Rodeo Corporation, and the Calgary Stampede Ranch.
The rides will count towards the professional standings in both Canada and the U.S., to qualify for the National Finals Rodeo. Schmidt said the contingency of bronc riders in Canada is super strong right now. Out of the top 15 in the world last year, eight of the top 15 came from Canada.
