While the Weyburn Public Library was 100 years old in 2020, no celebration could be held that year due to government shutdowns and limitations on gatherings.

Now, it's finally time to celebrate.

"We're making up for it now with our '100 + 2' Anniversary Celebration," shared Branch Manager Katherine Wagner.

The WPL will be hosting a Centennial Barbecue on June 18th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., which will include music, as well as activities for kids, and, of course, food.

Wagner said the Weyburn Artist Workshop has been helping them prepare to facilitate the creation of a community mural, for which they will welcome anyone to come and paint, on the first three Saturdays of this month.

"Everyone can come in and paint one little square and we're going to put them all together to make a bigger piece of art," she explained.

The paint times are Saturday, May 7th at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 14th at 10:00 a.m., and Saturday, May 21st at 1:00 p.m.

"People can stop by and painted mural square. We're going to put it up in the alley Griffin auditorium," she noted. "We're looking forward to having some art in there again."
