A fundraiser for the Bengough School will be held on Saturday, December 2nd, featuring none other than Weyburn's own country music singer songwriter, Karissa Hoffart.

She said the smalltown schools are close to her heart.

"Just like our Gladmar School fundraiser back in February of this year, we are donating a full, free concert and helping them fundraise for all their school learning needs as well as mental health needs," she shared. "Just bringing more of that in, especially right now and also being in the medical field, it's a huge need."

"It really means a lot because of the school I went to was actually Gladmar, and being a small school we didn't have as many opportunities and the funding is always short, so it's just nice to kind of give extra funding in the spots that the students really need that. And it's also just nice to give back to the communities that have supported me throughout the many years."

All the funds will be going right back to the school.

"We hope that we can raise as much money as we did in Gladmar, which was over $30,000. So it's just an amazing thing to see the community come together."

Hoffart said anyone who attends the show can enter their school to win a future concert for its own fundraiser.

"When people come to the event on December 2nd at the Bengough Community Hall, they can enter their school that they would like to have the concert next, and we will draw that school at that concert," she explained. "So you have to be there in order to win. But it's a really cool way to get your school in to get to the next fundraiser."

She said she'll be bringing her full band to the show, and local band Radioactive Love will be her opening act.

"We will make it a good one."
