Jamie Labbie recently receiving the Governor General's Award for her work in the 2021-22 school year at Weyburn Comprehensive School.

The award is presented to the student graduating from a high school with the highest combined average for Grades 11 and 12.

"I felt pretty honored to be receiving this award, although awards like this aren't the goal behind my drive for success, it is nice to have my hard work noticed," she commented.

Labbie shared her key to success for such an achievement.

"It's definitely a challenge, but once you find that balance between spending enough time on doing your work and getting everything done, and also spending time doing things that you enjoy, like visiting with your friends or playing sports and stuff like that, if you find that balance, then it's a lot easier to manage everything so that you're not overwhelmed with stress about school."

"You don't have to spend every second studying or doing homework, and it's probably better if you don't, because you're just going to stress yourself out about it. And if you find time to do other things that you enjoy and give yourself rest, then you're gonna be doing better in the long run."

Labbie is currently attending university, where she is studying biomedical science.
