The City of Weyburn announced Monday afternoon the outdoor pool at the Weyburn Leisure Centre would be closed for the remainder of the season. The decision came after a mechanical issue was identified over the weekend.

"We understand the disappointment this news brings to our valued users and community members who look forward to spending time in our outdoor pool during the summer months," said Andrew Crowe, director of Parks and Leisure Services in a written release. "We apologize for any inconvenience this closure may cause and appreciate the understanding of our community as our staff put their focus towards opening the indoor pool for the fall and winter season."

An assessment of the situation determined the repairs that are needed would not have been able to be completed in time for the scheduled closure of the pool for the season, which was August 28th.

The indoor pool at the Weyburn Leisure Centre is scheduled to open for the season on September 11th.
