The Weyburn Red Wings huddle around Head Coach Bryce Thoma at a recent practice. Eleven players were selected to play in the SJHL Showcase held this week in Warman.

There were 11 players from the Weyburn Red Wings who represented the team at the SJHL Showcase that was held in Warman this week. The showcase was designed to give scouts, coaches, agents and others a chance to see some of the best in the league competing against one another. To do so, the 120 players from across the league were broken up into six teams based on their age.

Trevor Geerin (D), Brendan McKay (F), and Jon Brumwell (F) played on the 94/95 Grey team. All three played in both of the games against the other squad composed of 19 and 20 year-old players. Brumwell picked up one point, while the others were held off the scoresheet.

Jacob Jeske (F) and Matt Eng (F) were placed on the 95/96 Red team. Eng picked up an assist in the two games, while Jeske was pointless.

Mike Eskra (D), Ian Parker (F), Trey Tendler (F) and Nick Pouliot (F) were all on the 96/97 Black team. Through the two games played, none of them were able to pick up points on the two goals their team scored. The team did give up a total of eight goals over the two games.

The 96/97 Orange team had the last two Red Wings. Donovan Lumb (F) recorded three assists in the two games, and led all other skaters in that category. Braden Mellon (F) was unable to register any points in the two games played.

All the players were back in Weyburn today, as the team is getting set for their next game. They host the Melville Millionaires Saturday night at Crescent Point Place. The Red Wings are still looking for their first win of the season.
