Artist registration is open until December 15th for the 40th annual James Weir Peoples Choice exhibition.

"It's free to attend, or free to put a piece in, and it is probably our most-viewed and most well-attended exhibition of the year," shared City Curator and Arts Coordinator with the Weyburn Arts Council, Regan Lanning.

Voting is done blind, as the works stand on their own with only their titles, but no names for the artists are included until after voting concludes.

"It's a fun lesson in the importance of voting and it really celebrates all of our local talent," Lanning noted.

Not only is the JWPC the longest-running show of its kind in western Canada, it coincides with a number of other milestones in our local arts community.

"2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the James Weir, the 50th anniversary of our permanent collection and the 60th anniversary of Arts Council," she shared. "There'll be lots of celebration coming in the next year, as well as some merch opportunities."
