Tonight, the Rise Choir under the direction of Holly Butz will hit the stage at the Cugnet Centre, the fundraising performance will welcome audience members as they prepare for the Ennis Sisters.

“We are thrilled to be performing some of our favorites and a handful of Christmas pieces for the crowd at the Cognet Center as they enter for the concert series performance of the Ennis Sisters,” said Butz.

Butz shared that hope with this performance is to generate some funds to help the music department on its spring concert tour. The touring ensemble includes the Rise Choir, Senior Choir, and the band students who are directed by Brayden Jensen.

“Our senior choir and band students go on a trip in May. We perform at schools on the trip and the cost of hotels and buses are rising and we want to try to keep the expenses and the cost of the trip as affordable as we can for our students.”

Butz shared that last year the students along with all their instruments toured to Edmonton to perform and this year the group is heading east to Winnipeg the first week of May.

Tonight’s performance will open for the Ennis Sisters at 6:45 p.m. and run to 7: 15 p.m. with Ennis Sisters beginning at 7:30 p.m.
