The Weyburn Oilwomen made some presentations yesterday to a couple of Weyburn's nursing homes to ensure Christmas is special for the residents.

$1,760 was presented to the Tatagwa View Residents and $1,240  was presented to the residents of the Weyburn Special Care Home as part of the WOW's "Santa for Seniors" initiative.

Acting Chair Carmen Sterling said they match up to a $1,000 contribution.

"So there are seniors in care that do not have or will not have Christmas presents under the tree, and so we have raised these funds as a way to help the facilities provide gifts to those individuals that may need them, but also to kind of spread some holiday cheer and spirit for them to be able to pay for entertainment to come in, and also put fuel in their bus to take them even on the twinkle tours, or on outings," she shared.

Sterling added, "I know last year's proceeds actually were being used well into this year for different activities, paid entertainment to come in, those types of things."
