The Carol Festival will return to Grace United Church on December 4th.

However, since Quota International dissolved in 2020, the Carol Festival has become a Rotary Club of Weyburn event.

In fact, Heather Sidloski said she joined the Rotary Club in order to provide some continuity.

The Carol Festival has been an annual favourite in Weyburn since 1953, and Sidloski said it puts everybody into the giving spirit.

"So this is our 69th annual Festival of Carols, also known as Carol Festival," she explained, noting that the event is always held on the first Sunday of December.

Performances will be at 2:00 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m.

"We have a number of choirs confirmed and a number pending, but the ones that are confirmed, it's always the great to hear the chancel choir from the United Church, of course, Rotary, who has been a choir since Carol Festival began, they are one of the ones that have always been there, and then we have another three or four church children's choirs that are coming and news is that the high school choir is also coming, so it'll be great lineup and we're looking forward to it.

Sidloski said they will be accepting entries for performers until next Friday, November 25th.

"They can either text me or or e-mail me so my cell number is 861-2837 or my e-mail is hsidloski@hotmail.com."

Rotary member Pat May said while it isn't one of their bigger fundraisers, they will be taking a silver collection at the door.

"Rotary does use this money and any other money that we raise, to help our community. Often it's directed towards the youth, such as free swimming during the summer, and we have scholarships at the Comp and also at the Community College, and many other things that Rotary does around youth."
