The Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation has been chosen to be the beneficiary of Smile Cookie Week, happening next week at Tim Horton's.

"It runs from April 29th to May 5th and 100 percent of the proceeds from the cookies will be donated back to the foundation," shared Office Manager of the WDHF, Whitney Johnson.

She said they will have help with cookie decorating from the WDHF Board of Directors, as well as volunteers from local banks.

"We're looking for a couple more volunteers for the morning of Tuesday, April 30th, from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m.

A special kick-off event will be taking place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, which is a first in Weyburn: a cookie-decorating contest.

"I thought it would be a fun way to kick off the event. We have some staff from the Saskatchewan Health Authority coming to partake in that, so it should be fun," Johnson shared. "I kind of wanted to get the staff involved from the hospital and the SHA, just because we're raising funds for the new hospital, so those will be the people in the contest."

She said they are still raising money for the construction and the equipment going in the new hospital.

"We have a bit more money to come up with, so we're doing now what we can to raise those funds. This will help us reach our goal."

Individual smile cookies will be available all throughout the week, and you can order boxes of cookies in advance.

"So we will have a link to an order form on our social media channels and our website, so people can print off the form if they want to order. They just need to provide the form to Tim Horton's 48 hours prior to when they want their cookies. So boxes come in 12, and people can order as many as they want."

Individual cookies are $1.50 each plus tax.
