The City of Weyburn will begin street sweeping on Monday in refuse collection Area Two.

"The whole purpose of street sweeping in the spring or summer is to keep all the debris that happened in the winter time off the streets and make sure that the dust is removed," explained Paige Tenbult, Communications Coordinator with the City.

Of critical importance is having the streets clear for this work, which means residents in the designated sweeping area are strongly encouraged to move their vehicles off the streets the night prior to the work.

"We encourage everyone to sign up for our Voyent alert system," she noted. "They can go to the city of Weyburn website to sign up for that if they're not already signed up. Anybody who was an Everbridge member is transitioned over into the Voyent alert system already. We know that a lot of people have been receiving notifications from our new system already, but we really encourage people to sign up for that."

She said they will also make the announcements on the City's website and social media pages.

"Check out social media just to keep up to date on when your area is going to be," Tenbult advised.

"So when the street sweeping begins in an area, we ask residents to move their vehicles from the street. It'll take a couple of days to get through an area, and everything is weather permitting. So just keep up to date on our website with our notification system on social media through the local media to find out when your area is going to begin."

She added that there is a spring sweep conducted right after winter in the downtown area, but the residential area is now the focus. Another street sweeping is done in October in preparation for winter.
