The City of Weyburn is asking for the public's feedback on a new park currently in the design stages.

Weyburn City Council approved a Request for Proposal for a consulting service from Crosby, Hanna, and Associates, to develop a park concept plan for the former Haig School site.

"The current concept plan includes amenities such as a multi-sport court, pump track, washrooms, picnic area, parking lot, shade trees, and current existing baseball fields," shared Parks Manager Curtis Block.

Block said they are encouraging residents to participate in the survey, to contribute their thoughts and ideas to the development of the final design.

"Once the final design has been established and approved, this will aid in future development planning and ensuring that meets the needs of the community," he explained. "Currently, there are no plans or timelines for construction development. We're just in concept planning stages, so we are encouraging everyone to check out the current design and to participate in the survey."

As for those wondering why the former Souris School grounds are not being developed for park space, Block reminded that the City no longer owns that property. However, they retained ownership of the Haig School grounds, earmarking it for a future green space.
