TeleMiracle weekend is here!

Every year, on the first weekend of March, Saskatchewan residents come together for our biggest provincial fundraiser, all in support of the Kinsmen and Kinette clubs throughout the province.

"The Kinsmen Club is a national organization," said Adrian Prybylski of the Weyburn Kin Club. "Saskatchewan is special in the fact that we do something unique like TeleMiracle which is a province-wide telethon."

Throughout the telethon, viewers are treated to local performers and a national cast to keep them entertained and who encourage them to "Ring Those Phones" to bring more money in, all of which stays in Saskatchewan.

Although the Weyburn Kin Club will not be doing a live presentation of money raised this year, Adrian noted the efforts they put in towards TeleMiracle.

"The Weyburn Kin Club holds two poker tournaments a year and all money raised goes to TeleMiracle," he said. "The Weyburn club also participates in TeleMiracle annually, whether that be in the background making sure the show runs smooth or even on stage answering phones from time to time. It's just a wonderful event to be a part of with everyone helping out and being a community."

Adrian noted that this year's efforts saw the Kin Club bring in roughly $4,000 for TeleMiracle 43.

This evening will also feature two entertainers from the Weyburn area. Keep an eye out for Onello Matt Bahingawa of Weyburn and Joshua Switzer of Grenfell.

Adrian also mentioned that the Kin Club provides community support throughout the year and outside of TeleMiracle, including things like the Kin Canada National Day of Kindness on February 23, where the Weyburn Kin Club donated $200 worth of food to the food bank.

As for tonight, TeleMiracle 43 will kick off at 9:00 p.m. and run until 5:00 p.m. tomorrow.

"Last year TeleMiracle raised over $7 million and this year we are hoping to top that," added Adrian. "Because, where are we going?  HIGHER!"
