Weyburn’s Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) in partnership with Envision Counseling and Support Centre is launching a new support group.

“We have created a parent support group or parent support network; we're calling it Today's Struggle Tomorrow’s Strength, said Tasha Collins, Program Director, Weyburn Branch CMHA.

“It's really just an informal, welcoming group that's going to be able to provide some dialogue along with peer support. It's for parents who may have a child that's living with mental health concerns, or struggling, and it's really to discuss some issues, maybe some challenges or concerns that parents might be facing as well as gain some support for themselves,” continued Collins. "It's really to discuss some issues, maybe some challenges or concerns that parents might be facing as well as gain some support for themselves, because as parents caring for our kids is a difficult task, and I certainly know that there is strength in numbers."

Collins also shared that this support group will also provide resources that will include how to navigate the mental health system and is available for all parents with children of any age who happen to be struggling with their mental health.

The support group will meet every second Wednesday of the month at 7 pm at the Weyburn Credit Union Community Room. The first meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 10.
