The Weyburn Crocus Quilters Guild are the recipients of a portion of this year's Art Farm Scholarship.

Jaynie Himsl, a member of the Weyburn Crocus Quilters Guild, said that she applied for the scholarship on behalf of the Quilters Guild, but wasn't really sure if their group would qualify based on the parameters of the scholarship.

Himsl expressed that they were very pleased to have received a portion of the scholarship money that was available.

She explained that they will put the scholarship money towards a trunk show. "We're wanting to host Tannis Fahlman on April 4th, who would come and speak to us and give us a trunk show of her quilts and speak about them. She's an award-winning quilt designer from Regina."

Fahlman will be bringing quilts with her that she designed and made, Himsl said, and "they'll be original designs that she has come up with, she'll bring some of her award-winning quilts and explain what makes them unique."

Himsl shared that they're looking forward to having an in-person event as they did a lot of zoom events over the last few years.

"It's just nice to have some sponsorship to help pay for these things."

Himsl added that they're thankful to the Art Farm and the R.M. of Weyburn for selecting them for a portion of the scholarship.
