It's everybody's favourite time of year - Garage Sale season! The only thing better than a single-family garage sale is one that fills an entire curling rink with items all donated to help out a worthy cause - the animals.

The Weyburn Humane Society is bringing back their Garage Sale from May 10th through the 12th. It's going to be bigger and better than ever, as they haven't held one this big in four years.

Volunteers, however, are critical in pulling off such a huge event, and Shelter Manager Colleen Morrice said they need about 20 volunteers for set up and take down of the donated sale items.

"To find enough volunteers to set up and take down that garage sale is very hard, so if they do want to volunteer, they can contact Naomi [Happy] and let her know, and she will write you on that list to volunteer."

Morrice noted that the best way to stay hooked-in to volunteer opportunities with the WHS is to join their Facebook group WHS VOLUNTEERS.

With only one smaller-scale garage sale held by the WHS in 2021, she said they've been holding on to a few garages full of items themselves for a couple of years.

"We've been stockpiling all this stuff, of course, because we haven't had one for a few years now because of COVID and everything. So we have a lot of great things for this garage sale, this will definitely be our big garage sale to bring in lots of money."

She said the money raised goes to the general checking account, which is for looking after the animals.

Drop-off of donation items to the Curling Rink will begin on May 7th from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m., and also on May 8th and 9th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The sale will be held May 10th, 11th and 12th, but Morrice added, "of course, those hours might change depending on how many volunteers we have."

To volunteer, message Naomi Happy at 306-861-2362.
