The past weekend was full of playoff action for many Weyburn minor hockey teams.

The U18 AAA Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Gold Wings opened their postseason against the Saskatoon Stars on Friday. The first game of the best-of-three series would see the Stars come out firing on all cylinders, skating to a 6-0 win.

In game two of the series, played at Crescent Point Place, the Gold Wings were looking to keep their season alive, and came out strong. Kaydance Ray scored early in the first, and Hadley Revenko tallied in the second to put Weyburn up 2-0. The Stars answered back, though, with five goals en route to a 5-2 win to take the series in two games.

The U18 AA Aaron Well Servicing Gold Wings entered the weekend behind the Regina Rebels in their best-of-three series 1-0. Friday, the two teams met at the Harry O Memorial Arena in Midale before a boisterous crowd. The home-ice advantage worked in the favour of the Gold Wings. Brooke Allan scored twice and Alex Reid added another en route to a 3-1 win to force a decisive game three Sunday.

The series' third game would be played in Regina, and it would be the Rebels who took advantage of home ice as they skated to a 5-0 win to take the series in three games.

The U16 AA Agriterra Wings opened up their playoffs at home Saturday, taking on the Sask East Oilers. The Wings would come out firing in the opening game of the best-of-three series, skating to a 6-1 win. Evan Duke, Brody Morrice, Rhett Weichel, Kail Hilstrom, Daxer Schroeder and Rob Shumlich all scored in the win for the Wings to start the series.

In game two, played Sunday afternoon in Melville, the Oilers pushed to force a third game, but it would again be the Wings coming out on top, winning 5-4 to take the series in two games straight. Morrice, Weichel and Hilstrom scored in the win, with the other goals coming from Austin Sawatzky and Evan Guest.

Weyburn will face the series winner between Regina and Moose Jaw in the next round.

The U15 AA Annugas Wings were against the ropes Sunday afternoon in their game against the Regina Pat Blues. The Wings trailed the best-of-three series 1-0 after falling in the first game Thursday. Game two at Crescent Point Place saw the Pat Blues score three goals in the third en route to the win to clinch the series. Travis England had two goals for Weyburn in the loss, with the other goals coming from Andrew Hemphill and Ayden Warren.

After their quadruple overtime loss Wednesday in Regina, the U13 A Young Fellow Gold Wings were looking to bounce back in game two of their series with the Rebels Saturday. They would, with Bree Poelen scoring twice en route to a 2-0 shutout of the Rebels White squad to even the series up.

This set up a decisive game three Sunday back in Regina. Regina took an early lead, but a late goal from Ayla Spagrud would force overtime. The game would need a second overtime to determine a winner, and Poelen would score her sixth goal of the post-season to lift the Gold Wings to a 2-1 win in the game and the series.

The Gold Wings will now take on the Regina Rebels Black squad in the South Division finals.

The U13 AA Young Fellow Wings played the Regina Royals in game two of their best-of-three series at Crescent Point Place Saturday evening, looking to tie the best-of-three series at a game apiece. The Wings would give up an early goal, but then answered back five en route to a 5-2 win. Preston Leier, Titan Sauter, Ethan Deck, Bryce Scrupps and Rylan Meier all scored in the win.

Game three of the series was played Sunday night in Regina. No score is available at this time.
