The Weyburn Therapeutic Animal Park board has set a date for their season opener, June 2nd. But first, some work needs to be done at the park to prepare for the arrival of the animals in a couple of weeks!

Board President Kirsty Frayne said they'll welcome anyone who would like to join them to help out with the many tasks on Thursday, May 9th at 5:00 p.m., and on Sunday, May 12th at 1:00 p.m.

"We would love anyone! We have so many leaves this year, it's ridiculous," she shared. "We've got winter cleanup, we've got to get the pens ready for all our animals to come in. We've got some painting to do. We've got some signs to hang. The pond needs to get pumped out, so we'll pump out, clean it, put the new water in. There's tons. The list goes on."

Frayne added they do recommend volunteers bring gloves for working, water bottles to stay hydrated, and anyone with yard work tools they'd prefer to use is welcome to bring them along, but they do have plenty of tools at the park for just such occasions.

More details are still being confirmed for the season opener event.
