It was a good weekend for student-athletes from southeast Saskatchewan, as they competed in the Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association Provincial track and field meet in Saskatoon.

In the junior girls 100m dash, Gracie Schutz from Carlyle finished 8th overall with a time of 13.37s. Schutz also finished strong in the junior girls 200m, with a time of 27.42s. In the midget girls 200m, Abigail Lenz from Vibank finished 7th overall, with a time of 28.04s in the final heats. Mary Sidloski from Weyburn came in 5th in the junior girls 200m with a time of 26.94s.

In the 400m race, Brett Bowler from Weyburn had a time of 58.17s, which was good for 5th in the midget boys competition. In the senior boys 400m, Cody Vilcu ran a time of 55.54s, which was 13th overall. Schutz ran a time of 1:04.8 in the junior girls 400m, which was the 5th fastest, while Carley Evans from Weyburn ran the 400m in 1:06.83, which was good for 11th in the senior girl's competition.

In the 800m junior girl's race, Alexis Vandermay finished with a time of 2:56.04, which was 23rd overall. In the senior girls 800m, Morgann Rogal from the Comp finished 19th with a time of 2:55.88.

For the 1500m races, Lampman’s Katie Weinrauch finished 12th in the midget girls heats, with a time of 5:28.05. Vandermay finished 20th in the junior girl's race, with a time of 6:03.15, and Rogal came in 19th in the senior girl's race, with a time of 6:01.41. Tucker Sharp from Carlyle finished 8th in the midget boys, with a time of 4:47.11. Rouleau’s Brandon Rumford was 19th in the junior boys with a time of 5:07.71, and Weyburn’s Braeden Junk came in 14th in the senior boy's race, clocking in at 4:47.9.

The longest distance competitors ran at the meet was the 3000m. Arliss Sidloski from Weyburn was 15th in the midget girls race, completing the run in 12:51.41. Morgan Sidloski completed the race in 14:55.66, which was the 21st fastest in the province among the junior girls. Alexis Hanson from Fillmore came in 22nd overall in the senior girl's race, with a time of 14:13:13. The southeast was well represented in the midget boys finals. Tucker Sharp from Carlyle was 9th with a time of 10:41.01. Alexander von Sprecken, who goes to school at Notre Dame, was 10th, clocking in at 10:41.68. Radville’s Rylan Neizner finished the race in 11:44.6, which placed him 22nd. Owen Hiltz finished the junior boy's race in 9:56.93, which placed him 7th.

In the field competitions, Weyburn and other area schools excelled, with a number of medals captured. In the discus throw, Lauren Broughton from Avonlea was 15th overall in the midget girls competition, with a throw of 22.23m. Jacey Rowland, from Weyburn, came in 16th, throwing the discus 22.01m. In the junior girl's competition, there were two student-athletes from Gladmar who placed in the top 10. Jolynn Hlavka tossed the discus 26.43m, which placed her 6th. Jordan Meyer was 10th, with a throw of 24.18m. In the senior girl's competition, Karli Colpitts from Carlyle captured silver with a toss of 33.78m. Alexandria Thomas from Kipling was 9th overall, with a throw of 26.96m. In the midget boys competition, Dorian Johnston-Lagrone from Notre Dame won the gold medal with a throw of 41.32m. John Hlavka from Gladmar finished just outside the medals with a throw of 38.08m. Weyburn’s Axel Lund was sixth in the junior boy's competition with a throw of 30.18m. In the senior boy's event, Ethan Ohrt from Milestone was 14th with a toss of 32.17m, while Austin Lund from the Weyburn Comp finished 16th at 31.89m.

Jacoba Henderson from Fillmore finished 22nd in the midget girls javelin, with a toss of 24.28m. Weyburn’s Frankie Gawryliuk threw the javelin 20.51m in the junior girl's finals, finishing 26th in the province. Julie Verhelst from Radville finished 7th in the senior girl's competition with a throw of 32.69m, while Colpitts finished 18th with a throw of 27.42m. On the boy's side, Darrien Ruthven was 5th in the midget boys javelin, with a throw of 42.62m. Jackson Goudy from Stoughton was 23rd in the midget boys event, reaching 32.15m. William Vilcu from Weyburn was 6th in the junior boy's competition, as he threw the spear 40.51m. Riley Mytopher from Kipling was 18th amongst the junior boys, with a throw of 33.98m.

Sydney Meyers from Weyburn finished the midget girls shot put in 26th, with a throw of 8.03m. On the junior girl's side, Frankie Gawryliuk was the top finisher from the region, with a throw of 8.40m, good for 16th place. Eden Tabin from Notre Dame was 17th, hitting 8.3m, and Jordan Meyer from Gladmar was 21st, at 7.83m. Colpitts again represented Carlyle well, finishing 9th in the senior girl's event with a throw of 9.89m. Johnston-Lagrone earned his second medal of the weekend in the midget boys shot put, finishing second with a throw of 12.55m. Lucas Porter from Wawota was 16th with a throw of 11.17m. Axel Lund won silver in the junior boy's event with a throw of 12.57m, while Evan Englot from Montmartre finished 21st, hitting 10.01m. Austin Lund won the gold in the senior boys shot put, with a throw of 14.03m. Abiathar Thompson from Milestone was 13th in the event, with a throw of 11.63m.

Nicole Dombowsky added to the gold from the southeast corner of the province, when her jump of 5.51m was good for first in the senior girls long jump. Brantly Carson from Lampman was the silver in the junior boy's event, with a leap of 6.05m. Paul Dionne captured the bronze on the senior boy's side, with a jump of 6.45m, while Shane Sippola from Avonlea finished 19th, leaping 5.41m.

Lampman’s Madison Stinson was 19th in the junior girl's triple jump, with a distance of 9.11m. Dombowsky hopped, skipped, and jumped her way to a 9th place finish in the senior girl's event, going 10.1m. Brett Bowler from Weyburn captured the gold in the midget boys event, going 12.02m. Ethan Armstrong from Rouleau was 16th, with a jump of 10.66m. Brantly Carson was 21st with a jump of 10.74m, while Dionne earned his second medal with a jump of 12.97m in the senior boy's triple jump.

A jump of 1.45m was good for 11th place for Chandler Dickie in the midget girls high jump. Jaycee Mullinger had the same mark in the junior girl's event, finished 7th. Keeanna Tatarliov was 16th in the senior girls high jump, reaching 1.4m. On the boy's side, Ethan Armstrong from Rouleau was 25th in the midget boys event, jumping 1.45m. Dionne was 6th in the senior boy's competition, just 6 cm away from a medal with a jump of 1.8m. Luc Englot from Montmartre was 22nd, jumping 1.6m
