Over two days of competition at the 65th annual Oilfield Technical Society (OTS) Bonspiel, 22 rinks were pitted against each other to determine 3 winning teams. Each of the 3 winning teams received sponsored jackets to display their curling prowess as well as their names etched on the respective plaques for each grouping.
The title for Group A, sponsored by John Kmita Ltd., was earned by team DK Energy #1: Jenae Nixon, Darren Woodard, Shelby Sidloski, Danette Tracey, and Charla Moore.
Group B was headed by team Goodwater Machine Shop. Paul McInnes, Andria Brady, Kevin Cooke, and Bonnie Adacsi-Cooke won this category which was sponsored by Spearing Service Ltd.
Jerry Mainil Ltd. was the sponsor for Group C, with Double T Electric placing first in this event. Calli Benko, Adam Friedrich, Terill Bloor, and Jade Bloor, who was just recently in competition at the Scotties Provincial tournament with Team Tisdale, earned their jackets and a spot on the illustrious plaques.
At the opening ceremonies of this Bonspiel, 10 community organizations that focus on developing local youth and one Junior Curler received donations from the Weyburn OTS. It was originally announced that $6,500 would be donated back to the community in honor of 65 years of curling tradition, but due to the success of the bonspiel and several generous oilfield companies they were able to raise more than what was initially anticipated. In total, $8,322 was invested back into the youth of Weyburn.
