Before the extreme cold set in last week, students in Yellow Grass had some fun with a rather large project.

Submitted by Z Johnstone:

The Grade 7, 8, 9, and 10 students at Yellow Grass School ventured out on January 9th to create snow art, using footprints and impressions in the snow. The students have been studying the artists Simon Beck and Kim Asmussen, and Indigenous artists. The students worked in groups to create large images in the snow using footprints. They create large, intricate designs in the snow with stars, snowflakes, flags, leaves, flowers, and swirls. Their impressions created very complex designs in the field. The students enjoyed the creativity and were not deterred by the cool temperatures.
